Knee Cruciate ligaments injuries are common in many sports activities. There are four cruciate ligaments, Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL), Medial Cruciate Ligament (MCL) and Lateral Cruciate Ligament (LCL). Among the four, Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury is perhaps the most common type.
 

For an amateur who tears the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in a sports activity, one may forget to play sports again unless the Anterior Cruciate Ligament is rebuilt, the surgical procedure is known as Anterior Cruciate Liagment Reconstruction. The most common procedure is to take part of either patient's hamstring's tendon or patellar tendon for repairing the ACL. After the surgery, the patient will have two scars, on the injured knee and where the replacement partial tendon is harvested. The rehabilitation time may take 6~9 months after ACL reconstruction. More the 80% of injured knee may recover and return to normal function; however, it is also not rare to hear feedback of Knee Instability and quadriceps atrophy from patients after ACL repair.
